Aircraft Engines for Sale – How Does a Preheat System Benefit Your Engine
A preheat system will thoroughly heat-soak the engine. Therefore, it keeps the metal above the dew point, which removes the chance of condensation on the engine. Condensation forms on aircraft engines when the warm oil/water vapor rises from the oil pan and hits a cold surface. This is why you need cylinders and cases warmer than the oil pan. The preheat system will heat the metal on the engine and shall keep the tolerance of the metal more uniform, causing less wear during the startup. For deep heating, the piston preheat systems use a unique threaded element that goes into the rocker cover or intake to thoroughly heat the cylinder head. Heating the cylinder heads keeps the engines safe and allows heat distribution through the cylinders much more uniformly. It is better to have heating pads on the engine's case to ensure uniform heating and ensure that the case is above the dew point. Preheating the engine also reduces the chances of frost on the spark plugs and redu...
